Four day chamber music summer course

Coached by The Regency Ensemble, this four day intensive course is
centred on chamber music. Each participant is carefully assigned to
a chamber group which receives coaching session on every day of the
course. In addition, everyone plays together in a chamber orchestra
which is led by the members of The Regency Ensemble. The first day
also includes instrument classes which are an opportunity to discuss
all elements of technique and musicianship and work on them as a group,
and there is also a session integrated into the course to study an
additional piece of repertoire, playing alongside a member of The
Regency Ensemble.
The course incorporates a public concert given by The Regency Ensemble
on the Tuesday evening and closes with one given by the participants
on the Thursday evening. This end of course concert includes performances
by all the chamber groups, and the chamber orchestra.
Although this course is non residential, we have a list of friends
of Regency Chamber Music who offer B&B accommodation during the
course.

- Friends’ Meeting House, Ship Street, Brighton BN1 1AF.

- The Friends’ Meeting House is approximately 10-15 minutes'
walk from Brighton Station.
Applicants
- This course caters primarily for bowed string instruments with
a few spaces available for wind, brass and piano.
- Participants should be at least 18 years old and are expected
to be above grade 8 standard.
- We welcome applications from individuals or pre-formed groups.
- Places are limited, so please apply early to avoid disappointment.
Repertoire
- Participants are expected to learn their parts before the start
of the course; repertoire will be allocated by the end of May
- If you have any repertoire preferences, we will do our best to
accommodate them.
Fees
- The course fee is £180, which includes entry to the Regency
Ensemble concert on the Tuesday evening.
- A deposit of £45 is payable on application and will be refunded
in the unlikely event that we are unable to accommodate you.
- The balance payment is due by Tuesday 7th June 2011.
- B&B accommodation is provided by friends of Regency Chamber
Music at £24 for the first night and £20 for subsequent
nights.
Concerts
- Both the Regency Ensemble concert and course concert on the Thursday
night are public concerts.
- We ask all of you to help advertise these concerts and encourage
friends and family to come to them.
- Participants are granted free entry to the Regency Ensemble concert.
Other Information
- Please bring a music stand with you to the course.
